Profound neglect: hens forced to sleep on corpses
The investigators at Wegmans Egg Farm found numerous cases of hens who had died in their cages due to stress, untreated injuries, or simply being caught in the bars and unable to get access to food or water. Because the birds are packed together so tightly, the survivors are forced to stand and sleep on the badly decomposing corpses for days or even weeks.
