WXXI radio transcript, 18 April 2006
Transcript of a news segment aired 18 April 2006 on WXXI radio in Rochester, New York.
ALEX CRICHTON, HOST: Activists delivered over 2,000 plastic eggs to the corporate headquarters of Wegmans Monday, calling on the company to stop using cages at its Wolcott chicken farm. Hoss Firooznia is with the group UR-VEG.
HOSS FIROOZNIA: Danny Wegman seems to think that if he ignores this issue it will go away. He seems to think that his customers don't really care about the cruelty that was exposed at the Wolcott farm. We're hoping to convince him -- with these 2,000 signatures from Wegmans customers -- that this really is an issue he needs to pay attention to... that his customers really do care about animal cruelty, and that Wegmans can and should do better.
CRICHTON: Wegmans says it has addressed the issue at its website, wegmans.com.
