Along with the Humane Society of the U.S. we're asking Danny Wegman to stop selling eggs from cruel “battery” cages. A company that claims to be an industry leader in animal welfare shouldn't be inflicting unnecessary cruelty. Other large grocery chains have already phased out battery-cage eggs. Why can't Wegmans?

I am a huge animal advocate, and although I have not yet become a full vegetarian, I refuse to consume animals, or their by-products when they have been treat so inhumanly. There is no reason for this, except for the selfishness of man. If people could only feel the pain these animals go through, maybe each one wold take a stand against the abuse. The production may be slower and cost higher, but each animal, including all farm animals should be respected and live a normal life, free to move, be in a clean environment, and free from all pain. |
